Learn about the PDL's Programming
As a non-profit association, the PDL is a committed to helping schools (particularly low wealth and rural) maximize their investment in distance learning technologies. Few associations offer the value, array of services, and programs for its members. Below you will find a list of current programs available to PDL members.
The PDL offers a wide range of programming options: from short-term to full-year.
Beyond the Classroom and the Renaissance Series are long term instructional programs. However, many PDL educators are not aware of the short-term learning activities we offer. We provide members three different flash messaging services to help understand more about creating or enriching classroom activities using these “free” resources. There is no limit to the number of educators a school can register into our flash messaging services. The goal is to save teachers time, provide suggestions, and share insights into using high quality online resources (PDL and other open web resources).

Beyond the Classroom Series |
The PDL's Beyond the Classroom Series takes the Student beyond classroom instruction, to new and exciting locations, virtually. Each program concept is based on a theme that
would have high appeal with students (and yes, even teachers and parents).
Learning themes are then used to reinforce and expand core academic skills.

PDL Renaissance Series: Gifted & Talented Middle School Programs Adaptable for High School |
The Renaissance Series
are designed to stimulate and challenge students' reflection and expression
through the integration of art and core academic skill areas. This series is primarily designed for
"talented and gifted" middle-school students (but adoptable for older
learners). All programs in this series
are available at "no cost" to PDL member schools as a classroom resource, but
all can function as an online cyber course to reach students outside a
classroom setting.

The Teachers Arts Network consists of four invaluable resources to Teacher across all Grade Levels.
In Instructional Programs you will find many of the “best” learning units developed by teachers in collaboration with PDL’s Virtual Resident Artists. Some learning units may require just one instructional period; others could be extended over weeks. You will find these innovative, fun, and exciting to use.
Arts Educational Resources consists of nearly 300 of some of the best art related sites on the Web. Each of these websites were selected by our Artists and Educators as excellent in-class resources for our members. Many are also excellent to recommend to students to use at home with their family for informal learning.
The PDL is proud of the caliber of artists that have agreed to work with our teachers as Virtual Resident Artists. Each artist can be contacted to discuss ways in which they can collaborate with you. The Communication Center is where you will find the forums to collaborate with Virtual Resident Artists, share ideas with peers, engage your students in an exchange with artists or their peers.

The Students Arts Network is a Teacher controlled Student Art, Music and Performance Gallery for Works posted to the Galleries by the Students.
Also Featured is 'The Artists Eye' Studio, where a Student Selects a work, and interprets/replicates using online drawing tools. The act of creation can then be replayed to discern the process the student has taken to create their Artwork. This Application in itself is well worth the entire membership in the PDL.
